  Management of matching system
Management of the Hyper Campus System

Created and currently managing "Hypercampus," a web site used for matching internships and supervising students, commissioned by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. Established a "Center for Supporting Internships" in WIL's Tokyo office, in order to provide technical assistance as well as consultation services for internship activities. The number of registrations totaled 380 universities, 5,800 students, and 1,300 corporations (with 1,500 job postings). <Figures shown are from August 2004>
  Development of Internship Model Curriculum
Internship Program for International Students in Oita Prefecture Co-sponsored with JETRO Oita (Japan External Trade Organization) under the direction of Oita Prefecture Conference on Exchange Student-Related Policy. It is a curriculum designed to provide opportunities for internships within Oita prefecture, for international students who are considering employment in Japan. Created a report and provided the "Campus Web System," a web site designed for curriculum consulting and matching internships, in order to assist matching international students with companies in Oita prefecture.
Internship development project, "Community-based Creation" for small and medium-sized enterprises Commissioned by the Kanto Region Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry, to promote training in industrial technology. Developed, implemented, created a report, and summarized suggestions for an internship program based on the models of Gunma University and Gunma National College of Technology. Targeted small and medium-sized manufacturing companies that have technology needs, seeking to co-develop new technologies with students.
  Research
Research on Cooperative Education in the United States A project commissioned by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry. In order to examine policies for establishing work-integrated learning in Japan, clarified the mechanisms of American cooperative education that has 100 years of history. Visited and conducted interviews with North American universities such as Northeastern University, MIT, Columbia University, and six association. Used web sources, published documents, and surveys conducted via email to gather additional information. Analyzed the results of this study including suggestions raised, and summarized the findings in a report.
Research on MIT LFM Program A project commissioned by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry. Summarized in a report, results of research conducted on MIT's Leaders for Manufacturing Program. Investigated the strategies employed in managing the program, and examined the content of the program, especially designed to train students to become leaders in the manufacturing industry.
  Career Education
Pre-internship Preparation Workshop Workshops on career education, and "business manners and skills."
In 2004, organized workshops at 5 universities.
  Information Exchange with Overseas Organizations
WACE (World Association for Cooperative Education): Activities as representative of Japan WACE membership recruitment, and activities supporting WACE members. Participated, collected information, reported, and made suggestions at the Annual WACE Council meeting and WACE World Conference on Cooperative Education (August 2003, Rotterdam, Netherlands).
CEIA (Cooperative Education and Internship Association): Participated in the International Conference Participated in CEIA's Annual Conference held in April in Washington D.C. In addition to gathering useful resources and information, WIL gave a workshop presentation on the international student program.

Lectures University of Gunma Department of Engineering, University of Utsunomiya, Oita Prefecture, Hirosaki University, Kyoto Sangyo University. Lectured on topics such as "Internships for Science Majors," "Cooperative Education," and "Career Education in the United States"
